The present paper proposes a novel design for optimal greenhouse climate control based on artificial intelligence techniques. The design consists of a hybrid system which includes the following components: a genetic algorithm to find set point temperature trajectories to optimize heat consumption, a fuzzy controller to maintain the trajectories, an artificial neural network to identify the internal temperature of the greenhouse, and finally a learning algorithm which uses the neural network to automatically configure the required fuzzy controller.
