An Analysis of Urban Polluting Meteorology Conditions in Eastern Mountain Areas of Jilin Province

The main problem in the study of diffusion of gaseous pollutants in mountainous areas is to grasp the change of polluting meteorological conditions and their regularities. Through an analysis of the ground and low — altitude survey data collected in several cities in the eastern mountain areas of Jilin Province, this paper finds out certain features of distribution of the low - altitude wind and temperature fields as well as relevant regularities of time and space. The paper especially studies the long - term and short - term changes of ground wind speed, changes of wind direction, regularity of sensitive wind direction change, time and frequency of occurrence of static winds and their duration, frequency of occurrence of low — altitude inversion and regularities of its birth and disappearance, and vertical changes of low - altitude wind direction and speed, etc. This study is intended to be contributory both to the credibility of researches on the regularities of the diffusion of gaseous pollutants in mountainous urban areas and to the precision of forecasting the impact on environment.
