Interest in the use of nonwood cellulose fibers in plastic composite structures has increased rather dramatically in recent years. Substantial research into the properties and characteristics of these materials and the development of technologies for their application has been extensive. Although vast amounts of these materials are produced each year (Table 1), the actual availability f these resources in a condition that can be used by industry (at costs that will support their consideration) remains a puzzle to many. Nonwood fibers may be broadly classified by their sources into three categories; · dedicated fiber crops; · agricultural residue; and · natural stands。
