In this paper the daily records of vibrating wire piezometers and atmospheric pressure changes are evaluated, and the efficiency with which atmospheric pressure affects ground water pressures and piezometer readings are assessed. It is concluded that the atmospheric pressure is an important source of error in advanced monitoring of ground water presusre, and may cause error as large as its change. A method is established to formulate the interference of this type of error over the vibrating wire piezometer readings. To achieve satisfactory results with vibrating wire piezometer appropriate guidelines are suggested.
