Major construction projects are seeing an increasing use of instrumentation and monitoring for the confirmation of design and the control of construction activities. Combined with automated acquisition systems this instrumentation can produce vast quantities of data, which require careful management, handling and presentation in order to become useful information for both contemporaneous and historical use. A state of the art client web-server database has been used for this purpose on the North East and Changi Airport Line construction projects in Singapore. This paper briefly describes the design aspects of developing a webbased database and then details the capabilities of the system. Finally the performance of the system is described in respect to handling the data requests of nearly 10 widely distributed users, accessing information from 2 major projects, comprising some 15 contracts with data in excess of 7 million readings.
