The n-PbTe joined compacts of two segments with carrierconcentration n_e of 1x10~(25) and 3 x 10~(25)/m~3 have beenfabricated by hot pressing, and the effective maximum power P_(max)has been evaluated in relation to the length ratio X of the segment(n_e=1 X 10~(25)/m~3) to the joined compact. X was changed to be44, 50 and 62percent. The P_(max) of the joined compact was betweenthe P_(max) curves of the two segments at #delta#T_(hc)<=420 approx480K, while was larger at #delta#T_(hc)>=420 approx 480K.#delta#T_(hc) is the temperature difference between the hot and thecool side temperatures. The optimum interface temperature of thejoined compact was 640K. When #delta#T_(hc)=500K and alsoX=75percent, T_i was 640K. The joined compact with X=75percent wasexpected to generate 10percent more power than the homogeneouscompacts at #delta#T_(hc)=500K.
