Taxonomical and biogeographical studies on Cycas L. (Cycadaceae) in China

From 1992 to 1996 the author and others continuously did field work and laboratory studies of Chinese cycads in conjunction with herbarium studies both in China and abroad. New knowledge of Chinese cycads had been abtained. Fifteen new taxa from China were described in the past five years. Among the 30 valid named taxa, 14 species of Cycas in China are recognized in the present paper, whereas previously 7 species in 1978, and 12 in 1995 had been accepted. The taxonomy, biogeography, population status and threats of each species are given. Although this paper is taxonomic changes from 1978 to 1996, some problems need settling in the future.
