A load monitoring system called C-NILMS has been developed to measure end-use loads in small-commercial buildings without requiring the installation of instruments or meters on each individual load. This approach is considerably simpler, morereliable, lower in cost and faster to install than the competing approach of installing individual instruments on many end-use loads. To identify and measure loads, the system matches load signatures to a load library stored in the meter. Raw load data is transmitted via modem to an NT server where custom software analyzes the data and presents detailed graphs and tables of load usage. The innovative C-NILMS system provides utilities with a new tool to deliver superior service in competitive markets. Itgives you the power to help your customers understand their energy consumption, address high-bill complaints and remotely identify poorly performing customer equipment. This paper discusses the status of the technology, results from a recent test programand how C-NILMS can deliver new services in competitive markets.
