Polymeric CO_2/N_2 separation membranes have been developed to separate and recover CO_2 from stationary sources. Cardo-type polyimide asymmetric hollow fiber membranes showed higher CO_2/N_2 permeselectivity than commercially available hollow fiber membranes. For practical use, the mechanical strength of the hollow fiber is one of the important points. To improve this physical property, spinning using blended dopes prepared by mixture of cardo-type polyimide and polyamide was tried. The hollow fibers spun by this method showed higher mechanical strength without decrease of permeability and permselectivity. Furthermore, field test applied to flue gas from commercial plant was carried out to evaluate the practicability.
