Ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) like other composite materials, have macroscopic anisotropy and microscopic inhomogeneity. Effects of orthotropy on structural analysis and material selection were discussed Analytical procedure has seriousdifficulty in determining many number of material constants. Homogenization method is one of the solutions to evaluate macroscopic elastic constants for structural analysis and to determine failure stress based on the microscopic material models. Someexamples of CMC structural members were analyzed by using finite element method based on the homogenization theory.
