The excellent strength/weight ratios and corrosion resistance combined with rigidity and good mechanical properties at room and moderate high temperatures lead to a wide range of application of titanium and its alloys in aerospace andnon-aerospace (specially as biocompatible materials) applications. However, due to high initial cost and processing there is some limitation, mainly in critical applications where special alloys are needed. Thus, extensive investigations of more economictitanium powder production are in progress, in order to increase its use. Therefore, this work outlines the background of titanium powder production in order to show the bcttcr choice at dental implants.
