Hot test measurements of gas concentration profiles in the furnace of large circulating fluidized bed boilers with the patent water cooled square separator under several operation conditions were carried out. The water cooled probe used in the test was developed by Tsinghua University. The axial and radial profiles of gas concentration were given and analyzed. The uneven radial distribution of O_2 concentrationin the furnace indicated poor gas mixing in freeboard, which was caused partially by deficient penetration depth of secondary air. With the improvement of secondary air duck, the difference of the gas concentration along the depth of the furnace was improved, and the carbon in the fly ash decreased about 5
