Increasing capacity of casthouse furnaces at A.B.I.

When casting certain products, casthouse equipment and manpower can not be optimized due to the restrictive nameplate capacity of the holding/melting furnaces. Among different solutions to increase the capacity of its furnaces from 50 to 62 MT, A.B.I. chose to reduce the thickness of the refractories. This paper, presented jointly by A.B.I. and A.P. Green, will cover the history of the project, from the production need to the results obtained.
