An in-service engineering requirement is to evalaute the performance of aircrew escape rocket motors that have been returned from the Field after various periods of time. During this in-service time period, a number of factors can change the performance characteristics of the rocket motors. Factors that can directly affect the propellant's ballistic performance are moisture, temperature changes, soluble impurities within the polymer matrix and vibration. temperature and moisture can also affect other components associated with the rocket motor such as the o-rings.
