Among a variety of biodegradable polymers, poly(lactide) has been widely used as polymeric materials for the preparation of drug delivery device. To modify the release behavior of drugs from the poly(lactide) polymers, trials such as co-polymerization of lactide and other co-monomers or blending with other biocompatible polymers have been reported. Examples of blending with other polymers were performed with biodegradable or non-biodegradable polymers such as poly(glycolide), poly(ethylene-co-vinyl acetate), and PEO/PPO/PEO triblock copolymers. Bledning of poly(lactide) with other polymers usually gives different drug release rate owing to the different morphology and matrix characteristics.
