Based on the analysis of the heat transfer and fluid flow, the performance comparison of regenerator using gas mixtures to pure helium gas is presented. In order to limit the scope and length of this work, only binary mixtures containing helium and one other gas (neon, argon, krypton or hydrogen) were considered. Some calculation results have been obtained which are somewhat different from those reported by Daney. The results may be valuable to further research on the refrigerating performance improvement of regenerative cryocoolers at 80K temperature region.
