This paper discusses the relationship between the size of the neck tube and the behavior of the gas piston. The mass flow rate and the phase shift were analyzed by using an equivalent electric circuit. Experimentally the gas piston's displacement and phase shift were measured by using a shuttle with and without a temperature gradient in the pulse tube. Furthermore, the mass flow rate was calculated from the gas displacement measured by the shuttle and the gas temperature in the pulse tube. The mass flow rate and the phase shift calculated by using an equivalent electric circuit were compared with the experiment's results. When the mass flow rate and the phase shift were calculated with the modified resistance of the neck tube, a satisfactory agreement between the calculation results and experiment results was obtained.
