Experiments on the precipitation of TiC_x were carried out in a vertical quartz reactor. A high frequency furnace was used for melting the Co-Ti-C charges. Obtained ingots were investigated using optical, interference and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. Phase composition and structure of the ingots were determined by the phase analysis method using Philips and Inel diffractometers and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Different precipitation modes were observed in the Co-Ti-C system examined.
