EDUCATION WITH A PURPOSE: PUBLIC APPRECIATION THROUGH EDUCATION

The Mineral Information Institute helps create knowledge about our natural resources by providing teachers with relevant (and free) educational materials about the importance of mineral and energy resources to society and to maintain our standard of living. As the country's premier source of educational material about the importance of our mineral and energy resources, this year the Mineral Information Institute (MII) provided free classroom materials to more than 24,000 teachers throughout the country who contacted MII asking for help-57 percent of the teachers are from cast of the Mississippi River. As a nonprofit organization, MII helped create and continues to be involved with Global Science: Energy, Resources, Environment- one of North Americas' largest-selling integrated environmental science high school textbooks. Work is now underway on the 5~(th) Edition. This is the only high school science text written with the participation of the mining industry. MII's only non-teacher program is the Go Kit for Classroom Speakers, designed to help industry people get invited to and be successful in school presentations. Knowledge allows people to make informed decisions. Mn helps create that knowledge.
