The amount of coal fly ash generated by powerplants is increasing year by year in Japan, and the effectiveutilization of coal fly ash is desired.The Artificial Ultra Light-weight Aggregate produced by thenew process was developed by Kobe steel Ltd., Techno-Resource Co, Inc., COMRES Corp. together with the Centerfor Coal Utilization, Japan.The coal fly ash is pelletized with a pan type pelletizer andthen sintered with a Dwight-Lloyed type sintering machine.The commercial plant will be able to do engineering andconstruction based on test results.The properties of products satisfy the specifications of theJapanese Industrial standard.Techno Resource Co, Inc., is a subsidiary of Shikoku ElectricPower Co., Inc. and Sumitomo-Osaka Cement Co..COMRES Corp., is a subsidiary of Chubu Electric Power Co.,Inc. and Chichibu-Onoda Cement Co..This paper describes the results of our engineering.
