This paper introduces three winding configurations in doubly salient permanent magnet (DSPM) machine, including winding around stator pole, full-pitched winding and winding around stator yoke. Magnetic field distributions are analyzed by using nonlinear finite element analysis, revealing that the DSPM machine with different winding configurations may achieve the same power output but different electromagnetic behaviors, namely flux linkage, copper consumptions, PM demagnetization etc., and be suitable for different application cases.
