LADRI: a Decision Making System in Inflammatory Rheumatology

We present here a computer-aided diagnosis system in clinical medicine. The originality of our approach comes from the Object Oriented design which we carried out, not only for medical data design, but especially for the structuring of processing. We thus obtain an Object model for diagnostic reasoning and apply it to inflammatory rheumatology. Our design is based on the data handled by practitioners, and on their own reasoning. The "diagnostic reasoning" object is then initiated in two ways: diagnosis by evocation of all diseases and diagnosis by confirmation of a precise disease. The ensued software LADRI (Logiciel d Aide au Diagnostic en Rhumatologie Inflammatoire) contains the definition of 12 essential pathologies of inflammatory rheumatology. We tested this software on 78 patients. For more than 90% of the cases, the first diagnosis returned by LADRI corresponds to the diagnosis established by the hospital specialists.
