Newly Developed Universal Crown Control Mill (UC1F-MILL) for Fine Steel

The term fine steel refers to very thin (25#mu#m to about 0.2 mm) steel strip used to make integratedcircuit lead frames, shadow masks, and other such electronicdevices. And, as one would expect, shape and surface qualityrequirements for this material are extremely stringent. TheUC1F-MILL, which was newly developed in order to meetthese specific product needs, provides a high degree of stripquality by the use of extremely small work rolls and supportrolls mounted outside of the range of maximum strip widthwhich act to horizontally support the work rolls from both theentry and delivery sides. We introduce here the basic designand control method of UC1F-MILL, and actual data of theoperating plant at Toyo Kohan Co., Ltd.
