Treatment of a model effluent with a potatio-polyphenoloxiase crude extract promoted insolubilization of the soluble lighin framents. The effect of three variables (reaction time, pH and amount of soluble lignin/units of enzyme activity) on the insolubilization yeld was evaluated using a 2~3 factorial experimental design. Only pH and the amount of soluble lignin/units of enzyme activity had significant effect on the insolubilization yeid. A linear model, which predict the insolubilization yield as a function of the signficant variables was adjusted. Based on this model, additional optimization was achieved. Maximal insolubilization yield reached 46
