ENCOAL MILD COAL GASIFICATION PROJECT- COMMERCIALIZATION OF LFC TECHNOLOGY

ENCOAL Corporation, a wholly ownedindirect subsidiary of Zeigler Coal Holding Company,has completed the demonstration phase of a 1,000 Tonsper day Liquids From Coal (LFC?) process plant nearGillette, Wyoming. The plant was operated for morethan 5 years and delivered 17 unit trains of ProcessDerived Fuel (PDF?) the low-sulfur, high-Btu solidproduct to six major utilities. Recent test bums haveindicated that the (PDF?) product can offer thefollowing benefits to utility customers:? Lower sulfur emissions Lower NO_x emissions? Lower utilized fuel costs? Long term stable fuel supplyNearly five million gallons of Coal Derived Liquid(CDL?), a co-product of the LFC?Process, have alsobeen delivered to seven industrial fuel users and one steel mill blast furnace.Additionally, laboratory testing of the CDL?product and process development efforts haveindicated that it can be readily upgraded intohigher value chemical feedstock and transportationfuels. The CDL? Product offers an economicadvantage over traditional sources of theseproducts as well as potential quality advantages.Commercialization of the LFC? Technology is inprogress. Most of the permits have been approved toconstruct a large-scale commercial plant in Wyoming,pending contracts for the products and financing.International commercialization activity is inprogress by the LFC?
