Studies on Reducing Soil Adhesion on Rotary Tiller Cover

The purpose of this study was to explore a mechanism to prevent rotary tiller cover from soil adhesion, and vibration was considered to apply to rotary tiller cover. From the basic experimental result, it was found that soil adhesion to steel plate was closely related to acceleration of vibration applied to it and soil colliding angle to the plate. In this paper a vibrating unit was constructed and set up on the frame of the rotary tiller to vibrate the cover with vibration frequencies in the range of 25Hz to 35Hz at interval of 5Hz. The experiments were conducted in several soil conditions. In each soil condition, the results showed a remarkable effect on reducing soil adhesion, especially, the most effective vibration frequency 30Hz was confirmed.
