We porpose anothr method for supressing Li_2O out-diffusion generated during Ti diffusion process for the Ti:LiNbO-3 waveguide formation. SiO_2 thin layer is formed on the surface of LINbO_3 with Ti metal strip before diffusion process. From the experimental results it was found that SiO_2 thin layer can suppress LI_2O out-diffusion efficiently.
