In order to design high bit rate optical communication systems, engineers need very sophisticated and expensive components, especialy in optoelectronic emitter and receiver blocks [1]. A usual budget study, based on Gain, Bandwith and Signal Noise Ratio, leads to specifications too much drastic and consequently to extracosts. The system approach is the way to determine if a device will be efficient for the system function and therefore allows to define more realistic specifications. In this approach, the characteristic measurements are eye diagram and bit error rate.
