A microengineering curriculum at epfl

The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology at Lausanne (EPFL) provides an full university level education curriculum in microengineering since 1978. At the beginning, the teaching was provided by professors attached to various departments (faculties) of EPFL such as mechanical engineering, physics and electrical engineering. In 1989, the department of microengineering was officially created at EPFL; this is the only university faculty in Switzerland which is exclusively oriented to education and research in microengineering. However, there are other institutions which are also active in microengineering and which provide punctual undergraduate and graduate courses in microengineering. In particular, the University of Neuchatel is shring part of the education program with EPFL and also delivers doctorates in Microengineering.
