The strong growth in DS1 (1.544 Mbit/sec) has led to recent intense research in high bit-rate digital subscriber lines (HDSL). Channel equalization and echo cancellation are required for a dual-duplex HDSL communication, but these systems have to be trained before they start to transmit the data. In this work we present a new scheme that permits the initialization (or re-initialization after an impulsive disturd) of a full-duplex HDSL data transmission system without using a known training data sequence at both ends of the line. It also estimate the impulse responses of both echo paths and channels jointly. As an example, we show the performance of the new proposed structure with a practical channel.
