Formation and Evolution of Cenozoic Continental Rift Belts in East Asia

The peri-Pacific Cenozoic rift domain of the East Asia consisting of four gigantic rill belts parallel to the West Pacific trench-island arc system, is important component of the global continental rilling. These rill belts widely distributed from the continental margin to the inlraconlinentaj area and developed since Paleogene or Ncogenc, including the West Pacific marginal sea rift belt, the Yellow Sea-East China Sen-northern South China Sea continental shelf rill belt, the intracontineiital rift belts of the outer part and the inner part of the East Asia. Each of the rill belts consists of several rift systems, and all of the rift belts constitute a unified peri-Pacific Cenozoic rift domain of the liast Asia. The West Pacific marginal sea rill belt belongs to the continental marginal rift belt, and the other three rill belts founded on the continental crust belong to the continental or intracontinental rift belts. The geodynamic causes of the three continental or intracontineiital rift belts are mainly connected with the super-regional tectonic stress field, the intensive mantle doming, the crust necking and the gravitational adjustment.
