Earth Science Education and Engineering Education from the Standpoint of Practical Experiences

Engineering geology is considered to be one of the fields of geology, but from its purpose, it may be called geotechnkiiies and is one of the fields of engineering. Geological surveying is only a means of accomplishment for the purpose of construction. The importance of geological surveying is a matter of course in case of the necessity of large construction in the geologically ill conditions. The contents in the survey reports must be easily understood connecting with design and execution, and the knowledge of applied mechanics is indispensable. The gap of the knowledge between civil engineers and geologists is so large that its solution is urgently required. The best way of the solution of this gap is the refreshing education for engineers as member of society. In the course of the refreshing education, considerations for global environment must be taken into account both in earth science and in engineering education.
