Geophysical characterization of contaminated muddy sediments

Mudydy sediments are effective natural sequestering agents for polluants such s hhdrocarbons, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB's) and heavy metals. The sediments of Shag Pond, in the former United States Naval Facility at Argential, Newfoundland, are known to be contaminated by the above pollutants. C-CORE was involved in ocating and characterizing these muddy sediments through a geophysical survey of the site using state-of-the-art technologies.
