In the present study indirect measurement methods measuring the InterLaminar Shear Strength (ILSS), the shear modulus and the transverse tensile strength are used to the fiber-matrix interphase properties. Along with thc mechanical destructivetests an ultrasonic nondestructive method was developed for the identification of the interphase properties. The analysis is based on advanced signal processing and supervised pattern recognition of the ultrasonic A-scan signals.Different exemplary results show the suitability of this technique to determine characteristic values for different fiber/matrix combinations of glass and polypropylene (PP).
