Evaluation platform for integrated incident and traffic management systems

摘要

The present paper presents an evaluation platform, which enables incident management actors to estimate the extend of the impacts of alternative incident management scenarios, taking into cinsideration the methods implemented for the provision of information to the motorists, and the incident management disciplines and policies. The estimatin of the impacts due to incidents, and the incident management system applied relies on the integration of a simulation model for the generation of the incidents and their characteristics, a traffic modeling framework for the estimation of the traffic volumes on the roadway links as resulting from the implementation of motorist information system, and an evaluation module for the quantification of the impacts due to incidents and the incident management strategies.
