A new mathematical model of thermal detonation in the melt-water mixture is proposed. The model uses Eulerian multiphase flow equations. Thermal conduction of melt fragments is taken into account for a description of heat exchange between melt and water. A map of regimes of melt droplet fragmentation depending on local parameters near the droplet is used in the model. It is also taken into account a process of melt droplet deformation. The model has been applied to study thermal detonation escalation and propagation in the corium-water mixture. Results of this simulation are presented.
