During several field ramps, sequential heat pulses were applied to one strand or to one triplet of the cable in the experiment with direct measurements of the current in each strand of a CICC. Despite the extra thermal disturbance introduced into the cable, the quench field in some cases was higher in the presence of heat pulses than during tests at the same conditions without heating. This paper compares experimentally derived strand current distribution data obtained during field ramps with and without heat pulses. The results indicate that the heating changes the current distribution among strands in a way that improves RRL behavior of the CICC. Thus, small heat disturbances artificially introduced into a CICC, may improve the cable's RRL behavior.
