Bulk samples of (Bi_(0.8)Pb_(0.2))_2Sr_2Ca_3(Cu_(1-x)Ag_x)4O_(12+δ) for 0 ≤ x≤ 0.02 have been prepared by the solid state reaction method. For low nominal silver (Ag) doping x ≤ 0.01, critical current density (J_c) increased with increasing Ag content. This improvement can be associated with microstructural changes. The formation and structure of the high T_c phase (110K) was not affected for low silver doping (x ≤ 0.01). Large nominal Ag doping, x ≥ 0.02, however inhibits the formation of the 110 K phase and decreases J_c.
