摘要

This contribution represents two reports condensed into one. First are some comments on backgrounds, based largely on the use of the program COSMO [1] for predicting activities induced in materials by cosmic ray exposure. Secondly I discuss the apparently paradoxical idea of using gas detectors at low pressure[2, 3] in the search for Dark Matter. This method is shown to have several potential advantages, including direction sensitivity and background rejection power.
