A selection of recent measurements of charm and beauty production in ep collisions at a centre of mass energy of s~(1/2)= 318 GeV performed by the ZEUS and H1 experiments at HERA are presented. Final states containing D mesons as well as lifetime tagging methods are used to identify charm production. Semileptonic decays of B hadrons are used to select beauty enriched samples. Measurements cover mainly the photoproduction (yp), i.e. Q 2 ti 0 kinematic regime, but also deep inelastic scattering (DIS), i. e. large Q2 , in the case of charm fragmentation studies and beauty production. Experimental results are compared to QCD predictions.
