The terrestrial N2-fixing cyanobacterium, Nostoc commune is often conspicuous on the soil surface and has desiccation tolerance. Dried N. commune crust is lightweight and easy to flow away by wind. In space, dried N. commune may be difficult to handle because of it diffusion. To avoid diffusion of N. commune crusts, N. commune sheet was manufactured. N. commune sheet was easy to handle. Cesium is a close chemical analogue of potassium and absorbed by soil. Radioactive cesium accumulation test suggests that N. commune sheet may accumulate cations such as potassium. To explore utilization of N. commune sheet, plant growth test and hydroponic plant culture test were performed. The results suggest that N. commune sheet can grow plant. N. commune sheet may help accumulation of soil with potassium in Mars and plant growth under space environment.
