The aim of this paper is to display two reanalysis methods to calculate the frequency response of a mechanical structure which mass, damping and stiffness characteristics have been modified. We only need to know the solutions of the initial problem and the definition of the modifications. These methods represent interesting alternatives for the traditional computations. The important resulting saving of computational times allows the designer, with a good accuracy on the results, to do repetitive analysis of large finite element structures. The two techniques pointed out in this paper offer some interesting prospects in the field of structural dynamics. A theoretical and comparative study, displayed in this article, has been carried out so as to assess the number of operations required for each method. The results lead to a possible superiority in terms of computational times of one method in comparison to the other according to the type of reanalysis selected. The theoretical conclusions, whose results are mentioned in this article, turn out to be confirmed by the first tests carried out.
