This study aimed to examine the procedures of evaluation of the acoustic quality of rooms with and without a sound system, commonly used in acoustic designs. The descriptors acoustic indicators of room properties has been determined numerically and analytically, still in the design phase, and experimentally evaluated after the installation of acoustic and sound systems designed for the auditorium of the School of Engineering - UFMG, with capacity for 400 seats. The results obtained in experimental tests have identified the proper acoustic performance space and validated the acoustic simulations used in the developing project. On the other hand, the analytical expressions of Sabine, Eyring and Arau-puchase showed significant differences in relation to experimental and numerical data.
