摘要

This paper deals with the prediction of propeller cavitation noise from model experiments using a large cavitation tunnel of Samsung Ship Model Basin (in brief, SSMB) of Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. The purpose of this study is to investigate the validity of a simple scaling formula especially in the broadband cavitation noise. To expand the cavitation noise spectra into the full ship from the result of model ship, the scaling formula recommended by ITTC is normally used. However, it always been found that the cavitation noise spectra obtained from a full ship trial gives different characteristics to those of model scale test. To overcome this disagreement of cavitation noise spectrum, an alternative and practical scaling method has been introduced in this study.
