The mechanical properties of two differently reinforced polyurethane rigid foam plastics by short glass fibers are investigated by the experiments of quasi-static and dynamic compression. The characteristics of stress-strain curves for the materials are discussed and the strain rate sensitivity as well as their energy loss are compared. The experimental results have shown that the glass fiber bundles reinforced foam plastics has different mechanical properties and deformation as well as failure mechanism from the single glass fiber reinforced one. The single glass fiber reinforced foam plastics has better reinforced effects.
