Cultural and economical connections of Central Asia and China had been started long ago. It became more animated and close after the establishment of the Great Silk Road (11 c. B.C.) There were not only exchange of commodities but to a great extent the exchange of knowledge and exprerience of the various industries, particularly of the glass production. Ancient Chinese chronickes give information about the visit of Central Asian glassmakers to China in 424 AD., and receiving of steined glasswares as gifts by the T'ang court in the VII th-VIII th c.c. from some region of Mawaraunnahr (Fergana, Tokharistan, Kesh). It had been impossible to verify trustworthiness of this information till recently. There were not any scientific data and publications on the ancient glass of these two countries. At present, there is considerable factual material-numerous glass collections, as well as chemical analyses both in China and Central Asia, Comparative study of these materials confirms information of written sources on spreading of the glasswares in the Medieval time in China. The glasswares exhibited in some museums of China and their chemical analyses have many analogies among the glasswares from the medieval towns of Central Asia. These scientific facts testify the existance of frade-economical relations between China and Central Asia in ancient period.
