Data collection during parachute testing can be costly, in terms of both time and money. Iti s desirable to reduce both of these costs and to put the design engineer back in control of the data collection. The use of an off-the-shelf, solid stae data recorder at China Lake has greatly reduced the cost, complexity, and time consumed in collecting parachute data. The data recorder is a commercially available, off-the-shelf system requiring only very minor modifications and care in application.
