A simulation for modelling the separation of a ballute from a munition with a deploying parachute is described. The system modelled consists of three bodies: a main parachute connected to a payload with a flexible member and an independent third body with a ballute. The drag on the third body is reduced since it is in the wake of the relatively larger main parachute. Motion is constrained to two dimensions; each of the three bodies is allowed to translate in two directions and rotate in one. The model is compared to test data.
