LNG carriers are unique because in their operation they use their natural cargo wastage as fuel for porpulsion. Since matching of the boil-off gas (BOG) and propulsion power production is require,d steam turbine plants have been installed for almost all LNG carriers up to now to satisfy these requirements, despite their low thermal efficiency.
