In the present paper the power transfer capability of a six-phase line has been compared with an equivalent double circuit three-phase line under normal and ground fault conditions. Analytical procedure for determining the power transfer capability under faulted conditions of a 6-phase condition shows that the six-phase line transfers more power than the double circuit three-phase line under fault conditions. Since power transfer during faulted conditions plays a significant role in transient stability, the six-phase line has better transient stability margin than the double circuit three-phase line.
